Talk with a Monk

Talk with a Monk is a monthly contemplative workshop held on the third Friday of every month from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, followed by an additional 30 minutes for open questions, at The Happyness Center. The session fee is $25 per person.

Sri Madhu Sai

This workshop is led by Madhu Sai, a monk, Clinical Counsellor, Yoga Therapist, and Vedic Astrologer, and is designed for individuals who are already on a serious inner journey. It is not a beginner’s class, nor a forum for intellectual or comparative discussion. It is intended for those who work daily on self-awareness, who are willing to look inward instead of projecting suffering outward, and who are committed to understanding themselves without judgment.

The teachings draw from a living synthesis of J. Krishnamurti’s teachings, the Patañjali Yoga Sūtras, and the Bhagavad Gītā, viewed not as philosophy to be accumulated, but as mirrors for direct observation. Participants are guided into practical yogic disciplines such as conscious breathing, understanding the movements of the mind (citta), quieting mental noise, and cultivating concentration as a foundation for deep meditation. Alongside this, there are grounded practices of mindfulness and self-awareness integrated into daily life. This work demands honesty and courage. It encourages participants to view every event in life through a new perspective, free from past conditioning, images, and familiar patterns. It calls for a willingness to pause, confront the hidden and often uncomfortable parts of consciousness, and see suffering not as something to avoid but as a gateway to insight. This workshop is only beneficial for those ready to set aside ego defenses and sincerely engage in the journey toward inner freedom and the cessation of suffering.
